Elissa B. Katz is the President of Humane PA and a partner in the law firm of Meranze, Katz, Gaudioso & Newlin, P.C. in Philadelphia. She is a regular volunteer with the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), assisting with cat care and adoption applications at an adoption site. She is also a board member of The Humane League.
Elissa supports TNR and has engaged in extensive TNR in her neighborhood, securing caretakers for returned ferals. She has also found loving and safe homes for numerous adoptable strays. Elissa shares her home with five pampered rescued cats.
Elissa earned her JD from Temple University School of Law inPhiladelphia, and is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Animal Law Committee. Elissa received her B.A from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a major in political science. She also was a violin instructor at the New Jersey School of Music inMedford,NJ.
Elissa served as a ward committee person for two years and has actively volunteered for several state legislative candidates who are committed supporters of humane legislation.
