Elissa Katz is the President of Humane PA and a partner in the law firm of Meranze, Katz, Gaudioso & Newlin, P.C. in Philadelphia. She is a regular volunteer with Northeast Animal Rescue, assisting with cat care and adoption applications at an adoption site. She is also a board member of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary and a former board member of the Humane League.
Elissa supports TNR and has engaged in extensive TNR in her neighborhood, securing caretakers for returned ferals. She has also found loving and safe homes for numerous adoptable strays. Elissa shares her home with four pampered rescued cats.
Elissa earned her JD from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, and is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Animal Law Committee. She received her B.A from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a major in political science. She also was a violin instructor at the New Jersey School of Music in Medford, NJ.
Elissa has actively volunteered for several state legislative candidates who are committed supporters of humane legislation, both Republican and Democrat alike. She is committed to building a strong non-partisan voting bloc for animals.
