Endorsements

Humane PA’s endorsement process for the 2026 election cycle will begin after the primary election. Because many candidates do not yet have a voting record, we typically do not issue endorsements during the primary.

Following the primary, our candidate questionnaire will be distributed to candidates seeking endorsement. Candidates and legislators: Please check back here for the link to complete Humane PA’s endorsement questionnaire.

Humane PA’s endorsement process is thoughtful and deliberate.

We evaluate incumbents based on their voting record and leadership on animal protection, with prime sponsors viewed most favorably. We also review candidate questionnaires, conduct follow-up conversations, and consult with professional lobbyists to understand who is helping move legislation forward or who may be blocking bills. Member feedback is an important part of this process, offering insight into candidates’ positions and commitments.

Our goal is to advance strong animal protection laws by supporting candidates who will lead on these issues. Thus, we encourage those who care deeply about these issues to consider and be guided by our endorsements, and to support candidates who will support a humane agenda.
