Walter Brasch – Mourning a Voice Lost

wbA gifted writer. An unwavering voice for compassion. A strong and powerful advocate for the environment and the humane treatment of animals. Someone who never gave up. Ever. Big hearted. Caustic. A watchdog.  A passionate educator. That was Walter Brasch.

A man who championed the underdog. A hard fighter for what is right. A critic of cowardice by politicians. A loyal friend. A prolific and eloquent spokesman for the end of live pigeon shoots  A believer until the end that he would write the final column signaling the end of the cruel shoots. An admirer of advocates for justice.  That was Walter Brasch.
And he was so much more…

Walter is irreplaceable. Walter will be greatly missed by all of us at Humane PA.

    I was unaware of these columns and this talented writer. I will be reading more.

    It does occur to me however, that perhaps animal advocates, of which I consider myself one, could take a page from the NRA’s playbook. Shouldn’t we be giving grades to legislators?

    I know that we can review their voting records but a quick glance to see an A or a F would be great! While I am a strong proponent of compassion, I see nothing like wrong with having state legislators fear animal advocates a little.

    Beautiful tribute to Walter. I’m sorry I didn’t find this post until today. He will be missed by many. And thank you for the links to Walter’s articles on Dandelion Salad.
